The "Ocqueoc 16" (pronounced AH-key-ock) is a 16 foot tandem cedar strip canoe. The word "Ocqueoc" comes from a French term meaning "crooked water", which is a fitting description for how this canoe can handle on the water. Northern Michigan is home to a lake, river and waterfalls named for this French term. The Ocqueoc 16 is made of Northern white cedar. Accent detail of walnut, cherry and maple run the length of the hull and repeats along the bilge. It features a shallow arch to flat bottom hull, well rockered for easy turning and maneuverability. It is built with a lift at the ends so it can ride through heavy rapids without taking water.
